Paying the Piper

January 5, 2011

Payday!

We’re still trying to get used to being paid every-other week, after having a weekly paycheck for years.  Sometimes it seems like forever between paychecks---and then I sit down to pay the bills and magic-presto, it’s gone~ with the click of a mouse!

Here’s the tally:

Income:      $1857.39
Bills paid:  $1087.25 mortgage
                    162.17 life insurance
         405.42 auto insurance
         100.00  Visa
           50.00 Gecaf (new oven)
                       67.84 home telephone
      Total  $1872.68

I wanted to send more to the Visa bill, especially after the workout it got as Christmas, but as you can see, we’re already $15 in the hole. Luckily, I had the Christmas check from my sister, plus I know my husband’s check from his part-time job will be deposited in two more days. That will be our grocery and gas money this month, too.  The budget is always really tight right after the holidays.  Good thing it’s so cold I don’t want to leave the house anyway; that makes it easy to impose the necessary spending fast.

How is your budget after the holidays?  Did you overspend, too?
