Envelope Budgeting

February 11, 2011

Part-time paychecks: $163.95 (Mr. S)
                                        23.30  (me)

Expenditures: $ 15.00 haircut (Mr. S)
                          142.99 groceries/toiletries
                            36.51 gasoline

We’re cutting it close to the bone this week.  I’m trying really hard to use the part-time income to cover food, gasoline and incidentals, and leave the full-time paychecks to cover the other bills.  Sort of like the envelope budgeting system, but no need to carry so much cash.

Have you tried using cash envelopes for budgeting?  How do you feel about carrying that much cash?
