Fear and Money

We’re finally pack to a normal week’s pay this week, with both this part-time and full-time paycheck.

Part-time paycheck: $163.94 (weekly)

Expenditures: $10.00 eye-doctor co-pay (Struggle, Jr.)
                         26.00 dollar store
                         32.00 groceries
                         18.00 movies
                         21.06 dinner out
                         43.72 gasoline

I think the dinner and movies this week were a reaction to my  mammogram scare.  I went in January for a routine mammogram and got a call-back.  They wouldn’t tell me over the phone what the problem was, just that they needed more pictures, which caused even more stress.  It turned out they had not spotted any questionable “spots” but just had not gotten decent x-rays due to “dense tissue.”  I had to wait five days for my next appointment, worrying the entire time. We went to the movies as a diversion from the worry, and out to dinner as a little celebration after being told everything was okay.  I guess after a week of being in a cancer-scare panic, you feel you deserve to celebrate a little and kick your heels up.  If you’ve ever been through it, I’m sure you know what I mean, and I would guess that had the second test been positive, we still would have still gone out to eat and may have deliberately selected a more expensive restaurant.

Have you had a mammogram call-back or similar scare?  I’m thinking it’s high time we had a more accurate test.
